About
The Department of Urdu, Degree College Bandipora, is recognized as one the most prestigious and pioneering departments of Urdu in Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education. Government Degree College was established in year 2005. The history of the Department Of Urdu begins with the same year. Since then the department has been playing its spontaneous role in the onward march of the institution. The introduction of Urdu as a subject and department has been teaching Urdu as Language to all the classes. Presently student from all semesters are studying Urdu as a subject as well as a language. The performance of the students in the all semester’s examinations has been satisfactory.
Vision:
To make the Urdu Language and Literature more popular among the masses and find out the ways and means for the development of interest among students and researchers to adopt Urdu as a fascinating subjects of study in the country.The aim is to nurture students with a potential to innovate, invent and disseminate knowledge for the benefit of society. Moreover, the Department is destined to promote, support and facilitate the development of the subject. The graduated students get equipped with excellent theoretical knowledge and practical skills which fulfils our vision to promote academic temperament and community service.
Mission:
To motivate and prepare students for under-Graduate Studies.To impart quality education at all levels of teaching i.e. language, literature and cultural studies.Besides under-graduate studies in literature we also offer courses like MIL which aim at enhancing the student language.To organize seminars, conferences, workshops, symposia, Mushaira & Musical Programmes.To conduct visiting lectures for students by eminent Urdu scholars.
